This is a clinical analysis of 45 cases of congenital obstruction of jejunum and ileum which had been experienced from January 1982 to December 1990 at the department of pediatric surgery, Seoul National University Hospital.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) There were 7 cases of web and 38 cases of artesia.
2) There were 24 males and 21 females, the male to female retio was 1.14 : 1.
3) Ten cases(22.2%) weighed below 2, 500 gm, at birth.
4) Gestational period of 10 cases(22.2%) was less than 37 weeks.
5) Age on admission was less than 24 hours in 15 cases(33.3%), 1 to 7 days in 22(48.9%), more than 7 days in 8(17.8%).
6) Main clinical symptoms were bilious vomiting, abdominal distension, fail to pass meconium and jaundice.
7) Associated anomalies were in 22 cases(48.9%) and extraabdominal anomalies were in 2 cases.
8) Mortality rate was 20% and the main factors that influence survival were age on admission and the presence of other major anomalies.
